The October 1 Home$tart release of $3 million was fully reserved. Funds may reopen as reservations are withdrawn.
The Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines says that, due to significant interest in its October 1 Home$tart funding release, all funds have been fully reserved. Funds may become available again as reservations are withdrawn.
Home$tart grants are $15,000, or $25,000 for households purchasing in Hawaii, for qualifying first-time homebuyers. They are not applied for directly: the money is reserved through participating member banks and credit unions, first come, first served, with a limit of $150,000 per member per program.
The bank's 2026 schedule listed releases on January 2 ($3 million), April 1 ($4 million), July 1 ($4 million) and October 1 ($3 million). If you were counting on Home$tart, ask your lender whether it participates and whether any withdrawn funds have come back, and compare your state's programs in the meantime.
